I’m a bit of a content junky and a big supporter of online streaming content. I see it as a path to full on IPTV and I enjoy having a ton of content on demand at all times. The freedom to watch what you want, when you want is great.
This is the whole reason I was happy when I received my Hulu Plus invite a little over two weeks ago. Getting a chance to try out the paid service was something I was hoping for. I had hammered it a …

Media Center wasn’t to be seen this week. With E3 running, it’s mostly gaming news but Microsoft did make some big content announcements and that’s what we take time to cover this week.
With ESPN3 coming to Xbox, and being free for Gold Members, Josh and I go to town in regards to getting this content on multiple devices. It seems that MS wants to limit you to one Xbox 360 (since services are tied to your Xbox Live account) and I’m of the mind that they need to …

Microsoft was the first of the big three video game companies to hold their press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3. Yesterday afternoon they spent a lot of time talking about their upcoming games, and their latest peripheral, the Kinect which is a 3-dimensional camera and microphone that can be used to play games using advanced motion detection capabilities.
That was great if you are a gamer, but Microsoft also announced two new big features. Perhaps the biggest is that they are now shipping a brand new version of the …

Talk turns to gaming for part of episode nine of Seen in HD. Recent news that the PS3 will be getting Netflix support and the Xbox won’t be getting Blu-ray support gives Adam and Phil a chance to talk HD gaming and the future of consoles. One thing we forgot to mention in the show was that the PS3 Netflix streaming requires the use of a special Blu-ray disc to access the video.
On the bargain front, Best Buy lobs the first shot in the holiday shopping season battle, offering up …

Yep, Media Center had some troubles this week and we talk about them on this week’s episode.
First, Media Center made the news as an HTPC solution which couldn’t handle the DTV transition here in the U.S. It’s not as though it was a secret that this was coming so to see our preferred solution not be able to handle it was kinda sad.
As well, it seems that during the RC stage of Windows 7, your Xbox 360 extender has to call home (using Xbox Live) every time you use …

I’ve been hit and I have no doubt at all that there are those reading this who are wondering what is going on. Microsoft has decided to take Xbox Live down for maintenance for up to 24 hours. While this is normally just a minor inconvenience, if you’re running Windows 7, you no have no access to Media Center.
The Windows 7 beta and the release candidate require your Xbox 360 extender to have a connection to Xbox Live. I have to assume this is due to Microsoft wanting to …

This year they announced that they are making the service even better. No longer will you only be able to watch items that you added to your queue from a computer, but you will now be able to browse the library right from the XBOX dashboard.

Just a quick out today for everyone since we’re headed to the zoo! I wanted to take time however to point our readers to a CNet article recently published that I think might be helpful to anyone who enjoys getting streaming content to their TV.
For Media Center users there’s vmcPlayIt, tubeCore and other apps. If you’re a gamer you can use your Xbox 360 for your Netflix jones. But what if you’re not using either of these systems in your home? Well, you still have options. There are a …
