No real notes to speak of this week folks. For the last week before our Christmas episode you get to hear part 2 of our chat with Phil Lozen and Richard Green. If you missed part 1 be sure and go here to take a listen first. It’s well worth it.
In fact, I’d have to say that this week is the better of the two. You’ll get to hear us really dive into the topic of net neutrality, packet shaping, and other ISP issues that are going to affect …

We’re back with another roundtable this week and as most roundtables go, this is a two-parter! You’ll hear part one this week and we’ll be sending out part two next Thursday.
This week, Josh and I are joined by Phil Lozen from Seen in HD and Richard Green. We’ve decided to expand the topic for this episode and step into the mire that is streaming, net neutrality, bandwidth throttling and data caps. It isn’t an easy topic to discuss but we take a shot at it. Be sure and leave …

Boxee, the open source media application that will let you bring internet and streaming content to your TV through the use of a PC, is ready to leave alpha and enter the beta stage next month. I’ve been using the application for a bit now in Windows and I can say I’m relatively happy, even with the occasional crash. I’m hoping these issues are fixed in the beta, but again, being alpha software, you can’t really complain too much.
The beat version of the software will launch on December 7th …

What makes something HD? Is anything at least 1280×720 HD? If it fills a 16:9 screen, is it HD? Certainly Adam and Phil don’t think so, and this week they undertake the daunting topic of what makes something HD, including a bried look at the new Web streaming offering from Epix. We’d love to hear what you think in the comments as well.
Other news includes possible Wii 2 specs that include Blu-ray, and Apple reportedly working with networks to offer a subscription-based TV plan via iTunes.

I guess I just don’t get it. I can barely watch Hulu, CNN or any of the network sites on my PC in full screen for more than five minutes without wondering why I’m trying to give myself a headache. Blocky, laggy video is not what I’m into. Hulu is ok if you miss an episode or something but since buying the PlayOn server, I’ve probably used it a total of five times. I just can’t stand seeing that bad of a picture on my 57” TV and I’m …

It’s all about content integration this year. Getting rid of the boxes cluttering our home theater setups. While some, like LG, are adding functionality to their TVs and Blu-Ray players, Sherwood has decided that the A/V receiver is as good as any other piece of equipment when it comes to bringing digital content to the TV.
Sherwood today announced an agreement with Verismo Networks, providers of VuNow to bring the online video service to Sherwood’s line of receivers.

It looks as though Hulu isn’t as against content on the TV as we once thought. Starting today, you can download the Hulu Desktop application for both Windows and Mac. The app makes Hulu fully compatible with your Windows Media Center and Apple remote controls.
What this means for HTPC users has yet to be seen as the application is stand alone and not integrated into any HTPC software. However, by simply connecting your laptop to your TV, you’ll now be able to control Hulu from your couch easily.
Something tells …

Divx today announced that they have come together with LG to create the world’s first Divx HD Certified Blu-Ray player. The LG BD390, a Wi-Fi connected Blu-Ray player, allows consumers to play DivX HD content from the PC through the player right to the TV.
I personally don’t yet own a Blu-Ray player and being a Media Center user, I can do this through the PC but not everyone out there is an HTPC user.
You can read the full press release below:
LG Blu-ray player allows consumers to enjoy DivX(R) HD …

Ian Dixon of TDL is once again on the case and has found that there’s a new DLNA Media Center client out there. CLaRGe of The Green Button has started a thread and asked for alpha testers for tubeCore, an app that will allow you to stream PlayOn, Tversity and Twonky content into Media Center.
According to the thread the app is currently working on Xbox 360 extenders and is being worked on so that you’ll be able to use your Linksys DMA-21/2200 as well.
If you’re interested in testing the …
