First off, if you haven’t seen any of the men’s hockey from the Olympics, you’re missing out. It’s been phenomenal. Go watch the final 10 minutes or so of the U.S.A.-Canada game for proof. With that out of the way, it’s pretty much basketball or Olympics this week. Conference schedules are quickly wrapping up and serious jockeying for NCAA seeds is in full effect in college hoops.

Where last week it sounded like Adam was in a tin can, this week you won’t have to hear either of us ramble on. As happens every once in a while, real life gets in the way of fun things like podcasts, so this week we’re taking a break from the podcast and instead present to you the first-ever Seen in HD lettercast (is that a word?)

Our first week with no bowl games in a while, but we do get NFL playoffs to keep us warm on Saturday and Sunday (FOX, CBS various times). NBC kicks off its Sunday NHL coverage with Detroit and Chicago at 12:30 p.m. On the college basketball side, lots of ranked teams in action as conference schedules get underway this week. Side note: I’ll be at Saturday’s Illinois-MSU game, look for a guy in green. Also, the U.S. figure skating championships are on NBC this weekend, helping determine our Olympic team. …

Hard to argue with Thursday’s BCS National Championship (8 p.m. ABC 720p). Alabama and Texas will square off for the right to be called the best college team in the country, or at least for the right to be part of the TCU/Boise State should have been in that game argument.

It’s quiet around here. Too quiet. That’s kind of what it feels like in this post-Black Friday pre-CES month. Not too much news coming out as companies seems to be holding pat until the Vegas show in early January.
Also not much news about Black Friday yet either, a sure sign that it was bleh at best for the CE industry. Blu-ray marketshare for Black Friday week was 12% (only 12% we wonder?) of total packaged media (DVD and Blu-ray) but revenues for that week were a record $69 million.
More signs …
