Mobile TV coming, playing second fiddle to 3D

Yeah yeah, you know I think 3D broadcast is a long way off and probably going to fail.  That’s just my opinion but for anything other than feature films I just don’t see people grabbing their glasses when they sit down to watch some TV in the evening.  That said, I do see people sitting on trains, busses or at the stadium watching the game using their mobile device to view it from a different angle or catch up on the morning’s news.
Mobile TV is making a big push at …

Bluetooth is more than just jawbone headsets for your mobile phone.  That’s what Broadcom and LG are showing by adding the technology to LGs newest line of TVs which are now shipping.
While most people use bluetooth to make calls with their phone or to listen to music with wireless headphones, LG is using the tech in a different way.  By adding the Broadcom chips to their TVs, they will allow consumers to stream music from Bluetooth enable smartphones and PMPs to their TVs for playback.  Consumers will also be …

Sherwood Receivers Get VuNow

It’s all about content integration this year.  Getting rid of the boxes cluttering our home theater setups.  While some, like LG, are adding functionality to their TVs and Blu-Ray players, Sherwood has decided that the A/V receiver is as good as any other piece of equipment when it comes to bringing digital content to the TV.
Sherwood today announced an agreement with Verismo Networks, providers of VuNow to bring the online video service to Sherwood’s line of receivers.
"Consumers are looking for a new breed of appliances for home entertainment that …

LG Helping Make Sure Everyone Has DTV

It’s the last week of analog television in the United States.  Most of us already know that and we know that the government provided two $40 coupons to anyone who requested them to get converter boxes so that older analog TVs would continue to work after June 12th.
Even with this help, not everyone can afford to go out and buy a new digital converter box.  That means that on Friday, those folks will be without television.  LG has decided to do something about the situation.
LG Electronics is helping hundreds …

LG Turns Net Connectivity Up a Notch

It’s starting to seem like my 4 port router and 8 port switch won’t be enough to connect all of the devices hitting the market this year.  Between Yahoo Widget TVs, PCs, servers, and blu-ray players, we’ll have to install rack mounted hardware soon.
LG is doing everything it can to make sure that its’ players are the ones people use to get the net content they want.  LG’s BD370 and BD390 Network Blu-ray Disc players, previewed at CES 2009, provide consumers with access to an almost endless array of …

Get Your Netflix Your Way

Just a quick out today for everyone since we’re headed to the zoo!  I wanted to take time however to point our readers to a CNet article recently published that I think might be helpful to anyone who enjoys getting streaming content to their TV.
For Media Center users there’s vmcPlayIt, tubeCore and other apps.  If you’re a gamer you can use your Xbox 360 for your Netflix jones.  But what if you’re not using either of these systems in your home?  Well, you still have options.  There are a …

LG’s LH55 Series LCD TVs now Available

LG announced today that the LH55 series of LCD TVs announced earlier this year at CES are now available online and at retailers nationwide.  Featuring 240MHz technology and a unique scanning backlight, the LH55 series are available in 37, 42, 47 and 55 inch sizes.
From the LG Press Release:
Conventional systems use a double process of motion estimation-motion compensation (MEMC) to insert “pseudo” data into the image in order to increase response time. However, this can add unwanted motion artifacts into the picture. The new LH55 TruMotion 240Hz handles fast-moving …
