HD Sportsman Feb. 22-28 – Going for the Gold

First off, if you haven’t seen any of the men’s hockey from the Olympics, you’re missing out. It’s been phenomenal. Go watch the final 10 minutes or so of the U.S.A.-Canada game for proof. With that out of the way, it’s pretty much basketball or Olympics this week. Conference schedules are quickly wrapping up and serious jockeying for NCAA seeds is in full effect in college hoops.

HD Sportsman – Feb. 15-22

One thing to note right off the top: With the sheer amount of Olympics coverage, we’re not going to cover every event that will be on TV during the two-week run, head to NBC Olympics.com for that. However, we’ll try to highlight the big ones for the day. Relating to Olympic coverage, the downhill skiing (and Lindsey Vonn, pictured above) schedule is all out of whack due to weather issues. All Olympic Coverage on the NBC networks is in 1080i. I’d check NBC’s site for the most up-to-date plans for …

HD Sportsman Jan. 25-31

Welcome to football purgatory. It’s the week between an amazing slate of conference title games and the Super Bowl in Miami with Indianapolis and New Orleans. The NFL tried to shake things up by inserting the Pro Bowl into this week, but really, who watches the Pro Bowl? Elsewhere, the Australian Open heats up, and Winter X Games 14 gives us some pre-Olympics snowy sporting goodness on the ESPN networks.

HD Sportsman – Jan. 4-10

Happy New Year. A great week of football greets us for the first HD Sportsman of 2010. The BCS National Championship, a pair of unbeatens in the Fiesta Bowl and Wild-card weekend in the NFL.
SPOTLIGHT
Hard to argue with Thursday’s BCS National Championship (8 p.m. ABC 720p). Alabama and Texas will square off for the right to be called the best college team in the country, or at least for the right to be part of the TCU/Boise State should have been in that game argument.

Slow going early in the week, Thursday’s action consists only of an NBA doubleheader on TNT. Things pick up over the weekend, however, as we get our first trio of bowl games, all on ESPN.

Despite the trio of city-named bowl games this weekend, the No. 10 North Carolina and No. 2 Texas matchup in college basketball on Saturday (2 p.m. ESPN) is too good to pass up.
