Silicon Dust Dual Tuner cable card announced with pricing

On the heals of Ceton and their pricing announcement, Silicon Dust has announced the HD Homerun Cable Card network tuner. The Silicon Dust HDHRCC will be a dual tuner, M-Card based cable card tuner. It will be network based, have a single coax input, single cable card (M-Card), and will go for $249. That right there is a huge price change, currently the only cable card is the ATI DCT which goes for around $250 for a single (S-Card) cable card tuner.

Seen in HD Episode 5 – National Parks and Oz

This week’s show is back to normal after last week’s Fall TV Preview Show. To start things out, Phil has some issues with an article that appeared on MSNBC this week, and tells you why. Adam and Phil also take a look at a couple HD news items that came out of the recent CEDIA show, including 3D HDTV.
The Blu-ray review this week looks at the true story Defiance starring Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber. The movie follows the Bielski brothers as they evade the Germans in the woods of …

Entertainment 2.0-Episode 45: CEDIA 2009 Part 1

No folks, we haven’t split this week’s episode.  We just figure there’s enough info to share that we’ll be spending Episode 46 talking about all of the CEDIA developments as well.  Not only that but as of this episode, we’ve only heard from Microsoft and none of the partners so hopefully, we’ll have even more next week!

Entertainment 2.0 Ep. 29: More Cable Card and New Toys

We were able to go live again this week and it is fun!  Josh and I both missed the live show last week so it was good to have the chat room there while we recorded.
Once again, we talked about Cable Card this week.  You can find the link in the show notes which will show you how to turn any Vista or Windows 7 machine into a Cable Card capable PC.  It’ll be interesting to see how this develops over time!
Also this week, we get to hear …

Make Any Vista or Win 7 PC Cable Card Capable

Ben Drawbaugh from EngadgetHD is on top of HD content and one problem Media Center enthusiats have is getting encrypted HD cable content into our software of choice.  It seems that after finding a work around for the OEM requirement, another TGB user has come up with a method that will allow you to turn any PC running Vista or 7 into a cable card PC.
This is huge news for the Media Center community and if this work keeps up, CableLabs might as well forget about the OEM requirement.  …
